The FGED Society holds a (mostly) annual scientific conference at different international venues. FGED also organizes smaller meetings to address critical issues concerning data exchange and reproducibility with selected groups that are generating large amounts of high-throughput functional genomics data.

Participation at the annual meetings is welcome from all members of the scientific community. Scientists involved in doing functional genomics experiments, data analysis, or interested in data sharing issues and standards development are particularly encouraged to participate.
